What's on your mind?
Hey, I just got ahold of an M10M and the inside straight up smells like Ammonia which makes it unpleasant to use and handle. Soap didn't really do the trick. Anyone know how to get the smell out of this thing?
i just bought a mc-1 without the filter and the only one i have to spare is a vm40 filter.is it dangerous? i only plan to wear it rarely until the quarantine is over.after it ends i'll be able to buy a proper 2000s gp-5 filter for it
Clearing out my garage during lockdown I found an old respirator .I served in the British army REME in the 80s and for three years was at the infantry trials and development unit based in Warminster and I think this is where I go t the respirator from.It looks like a normal issued mask apart from the eye glass which are small and round .i am struggling to upload a picture
I waa wondering if such a thing exists at all? A gas mask or a respirator that has a small electric powered air turbine or a fan that spins and helps force the air through the filter so that it is easier to breathe?
And then a microcontroller circuit board and a solenoid valve which would close upon exhaling?
You see, there is such a thing called respiratory acidosis and it cfan develop if you are breathing under a normal mask long enough, especially if you are physically active and demand more oxygen consumption.
Ideally, such a mask would contain 2 air turbines, 1 which would push the air through the filter upon inhaling and the other which would turn on upon exhaling clearing the carbon dioxide rich air out of the mask. Depending on whether the mask is solely for your protection or protection of others, a filter may or may not be needed on the exhaling turbine.
I know it sounds goofy but that mask would be a life saver for a lot of people who are in this situation forced to wear mask and are required to be physically active while doing so.
Perhaps it would be possible to construct such a mask.
What are your thoughts on this?
Hi, I have a small collection of German masks from WW2, today whilst looking through I have noticed the rubberised M38's are cracking on the seams in places, not loads but just here & there. Is there anything I can do stop help stop/slow this down? Can I apply a wax as someone else suggested? The masks are kept in their cannisters, should I leave them out?
I see a lot of very expensive S10s on eBay, is really 130-200£ the real price for a good old S10?
Is there a possibility to buy a different glass/lens for a gas mask? Like in a different color? And also can I buy a filter itself and change the filters on a mask? It's more for a look other than function and I can't find a mask with red lenses and white filters but black rest of the mask.
I lost the one way valves in the thing that covers your mouth in my Israeli Mask. Where can I get a replacement? I’m trying to sell this one and get an M40.Image 1
I collect objects thrown up on the sea shore near Fleetwood, Lancashire.U.K.
I know this is in poor condition, but am sure some one is up for the challenge as to identify, date or just give any info on it.
Thrown about by the sea for years.
Any info much appreciated. Owen
I recently bought what was listed on amazon as a Mira safety m gas mask However when I got it the bottom label says the zelenski group and the manual is in Russian. I have not got a response from Mira based out of Austin Texas and can not find this mask on there website. It seems to be ok however there is no exhale valve on the outside I’m wondering if this will be ok and how well this mask will do in a corona virus environment. I did receive a Mira filter that too is in Russian and some English. Anybody know if Mira outsources some of there masks and about no exhale valves on outside of mask. Here is the link for the mask I got on the zelenski website https://en.protivogaz.ru/catalog/masks/full-face-masks/mag-4-silicone-full-face-mask/
So, I just bought one of these, and I'm happy with its general condition, even fitting the cheek filters isnt too bad.....but I can see daylight trough the front vent/grill, I think its the exhalation vent? Obviously, if I can see daylight, then air can flow freely, meaning its useless as a respirator.
Am I missing something, should there be some sort of one-way valve here or something?
So I just bought this kit from the German eBay, and I have no idea of what it is. The kit is German, as all of the stuff has German writing. However, I'm more confused about the mask. It kinda looks like an M65. But the seller claims that it was made by a company called "Mayer". I also couldn't find anything about this kit on the M65 article. Can anyone give some information, on what I actually bought?
Here are the links to some pictures of the kit. They were too big to insert here:
I was wondering if someone could help me understand what this residue is. It coats the rubber faces on the exterior. It also coats the rubber lining (where the seal is made) and a little bit of the inside of the mask too. Is this some kind of preservative? Or is it something more hazardous like talcum powder or asbestos?
