I have a Soviet mm-1 mask, I cleaned it well, I used it afterwards (I used it with a modern filter), and within a few days of using it I suffered from a constant sore throat, have I inhaled asbestos?, or does anyone know if the mask contains asbestos?
What's on your mind?
I just opened a sealed pack of LF-10M filters for the M10, After a second try, making a seal and securing I took it off, then try again and I felt like ammonia odor, barely, but If breathe harder it gets strong, if breathe slow, calm is there but barely. My question is if this is safe. That ammonia odor is dangerous or it will go away if I let it sit a few days..I need guidance please. Thank you!
I'm using an FP5 filter expiration date 2016 and whenever I shake it it makes a rattle noise. Is this normal and is it still safe?
Hello All, it's great to join an awesome community. I recently purchased a Shalon M4 (pre-drinking tube version) and it came with original instructions (in Hebrew) as well as a carrying case with Hebrew markings. However after language conversion there are no real details about the filter. Filter is dark green when compared to the light tan m80 Shalon filter.
Please see photos along with the logos. I would greatly appreciate any assistance in whether or not this filter contains asbestos/is safe to use, and who the manufacturer is if possible.
Thank you in advance,Nate
I just opened a new sealed 2004 s10 filter and I noticed it is leaking carbon particles from the top, is there a way to make it stop leaking and is it safe to use?
Gas mask and filters are from the late 80's, factory sealed. In view of current events, what is the shelf life for maintaining original usefulness in the event of needing it as intended...i.e.: Novovirus-19 biological.
Secondly, what is the efficacy and efficiency of the filters, once opened and installed in the mask, for what time/days duration can one set of fresh filters maintain defense from NBC agents?
Can anyone please advise?
2 questions sir........i have a pmk1...it came with an extra set of lenses......and, no anti fogging device....1).....these extra lenses have rubber around them as it to fit around the outside of the regular lenses.....the regular mask lenses have springs on the inside......so?, this anti fogging device?, is it the other lenses or 2)....did they not send me something that is anti-fogging?..........hey, good website sir, very informative......keep up the good work and thanks very much....here we go---------->*........steve wilcox-marfa,texas...email:email@example.com
I recently purchased some Pro 2000 CRF ABEK2P3 filters from the auction site we all know and love.
I happen to notice that they have no laser etched serial numbers on them.
I ended up looking through a lot of images of all types of Pro 2000 Scott filters from eBay and high res search engine images.
It seems some have etched serials and others have none. Even within a batch of 4 clear bag civil filters being sold only one had the serial number etched and the other identical filters did not.
Is anyone aware why there is differences in manufacturing?
I haven't been able to find any information about this anywhere, so I thought that this would be the best place to ask. I'm looking at buying a Czech Army hospital gas mask, also called a "casualty gas mask." I'm wondering if the filters have asbestos in them and if they're safe to wear? I'm assuming that they do have asbestos in them, but since I can't find any information about them I don't know what decade they're from and what filters they use. If anyone could help me out that would be greatly appreciated.
I have a gas mask I've identified as an old ANP-51. However, every image I see of one, has a filter vastly differant from my own.
I need to replace the exhaust diaphragm, and could use help finding the part, but wont bother if the filter I have is not safe.
Markings are as follows.
It is four and half inches in diameter. Four inches tall. (including the threaded bit) And slightly tapered toward the far end.
I appear to be unable to upload the pictures, for some reason...
I've owned a GP-5 gas mask for a while now, and I've made the foolish mistake of using the original filter that came with the mask. My old one no longer fits me, so I'm planning on buying a new one, but I don't know where to find a new filter, or what kind to get. Help!
So I recently did a test on my pmg and I was low on fp5s so I decided to use a EO-18K filter the pmg filter possibly risking my life I screwed it on and tested it i inhaled through my mouth and a dust came out of the filter so I hooked the filter up to my shalon 4a1 to make sure it was just talc but dust came out again can someone tell me if i should get help or if I’m ok
I just bought two ARF-A gas mask, are they safe to be used? Can the mask store asbestos eventually contained into the old filter? I have one filter made in the 2000 and a filter made in 2009 both sealed in plastic bags and with rubber caps. I washed the masks in alcohol, disinfectant and soap. Thank you all.
Hello, bought recently new gas mask, produced in 2006, very good condition. With the mask I ordered also new, still packaged FP-5 filter, produced in 2001 with it's expiration date set to 2011.. Tried the mask today and I smelled kinda strange odour, most like soft amonia, maybe metallic, don't want to try it again and I'm wondering if it was truly something harmful or it is just a typical stuff for those kind of still. Filter was produced in Maskpol s.a.
it is dated 1972. it is not new, does it contain asbestos?
I've bought a sealed czech m10 with sealed filters. Do these filters contain asbestos, chromium or any other dangerous materials?
So my Yugoslavian MC-1 gas mask filter is a bit rattling when is shake it. Is that a problem? Expect this it's doesn't any problem. It's not leaking or else.
