The M69 JSAM-SA (Joint Service Aircrew Mask-Strategic Aircraft) is a mask manufactured by Avon Protection for the US Department of Defense. It is part of the JSAM program, which is intended as a program to unify all aircrew masks used by all branches of the United States Armed Forces into a few select series of masks. Based on the M53, the M69 has been redesigned for aircrew. (high altitude CBRN protection) The M69 is designed specifically for use by aircrew on strategic aircraft such as the Lockheed Martin AC-130J Ghostrider and many other strategic support aircraft currently being used by the various branches of the United States Armed Forces. The M69 was designed to be used by all branches of the United States military. (hence the Joint Service Aircrew Mask Designation) The M69 JSAM-SA is slowly being fielded and has been replacing the MBU-19/P AERP (Aircrew Eye Respiratory Protection) and M45 CB Aircrew mask in issue since 2021.
