The CAPS (Civilian Adult Protective System) is a positive air purifying respirator (PAPR) designed by the Israeli MOD for civil defense use. The positive pressure system is advertised to provide reliable high protection factor against all known NBC hazards regardless of facial structure and donning skill.[1]

BL-45/2 Blower[]
The BL-45/2 is a compact and reliable air-supply unit that maintains positive pressure within all civilian NBC protective systems for infants, children and adults. It is also used with NBC protective masks to provide improved comfort and protection. This blower is capable of drawing filtered air from a standard personal filter. The blower’s filter connector fits a standard 40mm x 1/7” thread. The purified air is delivered into the personal protective system via a flexible rubber hose

Hood[]
The hood's official designation is "Sapphire" protective hood. The hood material is a 4 layered plastic laminate, which is Impermeable and chemical-resistant. The visor is a large size, providing a wide field of vision and is made of high-impact resistant optical grade polycarbonate which has a special coating for scratch resistance. The outlet valve housing and the threaded canister housing (40mm x 1/7”) are integral parts of the visor. A thin neoprene neck seal is provided to ensure a tight one size fit. The hood has an Integral Silicone Nose-Cup and 2 Diagonal elastic straps, tightened by quick release buckles. The protective hood is available in two sizes: large and small.

Filter[]
The SHALON TYPE 80 (Type 80 or M80 for short) filter canister was developed for the Israel Defense Force (IDF) to provide protection against all known NBC agents in the form of vapors and aerosols. It is supplied as an integral part of all Shalon’s personal respiratory protection systems. The filter is supplied with a standard NATO thread (40 mm x 1/7”) . The Type 80 filters have a 15 years shelf life.
