At the height of the Cold War, Chemical and Biological Warfare was also considered a threat, though not one as publicized as the threat of Nuclear Warfare. The Soviet Union incorporated Biological and Chemical Warfare thoroughly into their military doctrine, considering Biological and Chemical Warfare to be a necessary part of any military force. This is likely due to the Soviet Union's previous experiences with Chemical Warfare at the hands of its enemies. The Soviet Union was also suspected [correctly] of producing CB (Chemical-Biological) weapons in violation of international treaties. While not as obvious a threat as Nuclear warfare, CB warfare was still a contingency planned for by both world powers, as well as by Yugoslavia and other nations.
