ГОСТ 8762-75 (государственный стандарт/gosudarstvenny standart meaning 'state standard', 'government standard', 'national standard'), early GOST 8762-58[1] and even earlier GOST 289-41[2] all described a 40mm thread type derived from DIN 3182 (even though that standard was issued a year after the Soviet thread was introduced on the BN-T5 in 1931), but with a 4mm thread pitch.
It was mostly used in the Warsaw Pact countries, and the Russian Federation still uses it.
