Pre-World War I Era Masks

Before the iconic use of gas masks for chemical and biological warfare, respirators and rebreathers were a rare sight, they were used by mine rescuers, sappers, divers or firefighters. Their designs varied wildly, with only a few sharing traits with the respirators to come after the war.
