The Ajax F1 was a French licensed copy of the Italian late-pattern P43.

Mask overview[]

The Ajax F1 was composed of a flat-moulded faceblank made of beige rubber, smooth on the inside and textured on the outside. The faceblanks were produced with two slightly different moulds, with one having a more defined outline.

The faceblank, had the following parts attached to it:

  • A threaded 42mm inlet at the chin with an inlet valve and a gasket
  • Two crimped eyepieces, 66mm wide, made of triplex glass
  • Two exhale valves with identical housings, one for each cheek
  • A 5-straps head harness, four of which were elastic

The faceblank has the size marking on the left side (expressed with the French system), a serial number on the right side, and two numbers under each lens on the inside (occasionally only one). The exhale valves bear the Pirelli star.

Save for the inlet assembly and the size marking, the Ajax F1 is identical to the late-pattern P43 in every way.

Kit[]

The kit this mask comes with varies, with most mask coming with a random French civilian filter and carrier.

The original kit consisted of the following:

  • Dirin-like 42mm filter
  • Pirelli-style carrier
  • Spare exhale-valve
  • Anti-fogging soap or alternatively anti-fogging lenses (affixed with either metal inserts or just by pressure between the rubber and the lens)

The filter used with this mask was an adaptation of the Dirin design, modified to have a 42mm thread. The carrier is Pirelli-style carrier tube with its top devoid of markings. A microphone could be provided if requested.

A full kit cost 110 francs, with the possibility of purchasing an extra filter for 35 francs (40 if purchased alone).
