КЗД-4 (KZD-4)

The Soviet KZD-4 was First Produced ( according to the manuals "Leadership. M. MedGiz" (1959) around late 1959 ) and the booklet contains the protective equipment and gas mask / respirators like the GP-4/u [M.49], GP-5[SHM-62/u] and PDF-D[MDa-6] kit. And the respirator saw use & was also produced up until the early 1990's as the Baby/Infant Respirator was adopted by a few Soviet Eastern European countries such as Czechoslovakia and was also used and was present In many Civil Defence training meetings and slideshows , which were used to help educate the local Civil-Defence & small local towns/villages as well as cities in rural areas.

There are two types of KZD respirator the early model being the KZD-4 (КЗД-4) and overall shares the same overall design as the later KZD-6 (КЗД-6) as the only main differences between the two are that the КЗД-4 has filtering properties of around 4 hours of continuous heavy use, and the КЗД-6 has a better filtering properties but also last up to 6 hours in heavy contaminated areas, and the КЗД-6 was also made with a platform inside for feeding the baby/ infant inside. The other main difference is the КЗД-6 was made in a pale green colour and many post cold war examples were retro-fitted with a green plastic cover on the two external filters comparison to the earlier KZD (КЗД).
