Gas Mask and Respirator Wiki

A German mask for use with rebreathers made out of leather in the 1930s and up until the early 1970s. Its close relative is the Leder B-Maske. The Czechoslovak company Chirana produced the DM3 and DM4, which are really similar to this mask in construction.

Overview[]

It was made out of black leather for at least as long as 1945. By the 1970's it was made out of a reddish brown leather instead. It was used primarily in mines. The masks most striking feature is it's big singular lens, that has a small arm in the center to act as a wiper. The lens is crimped onto the mask. The lens is very fragile, as the small pivot arm acts as a perfect pressure point that if hit can easily crack or shatter the lens.
