The MV-5 is a military gas mask used by the People's Army of Vietnam.

Overview[]

It is a black mask with a gray filter with a facepiece that resembles the Israeli M15. The MV-5 has a port for a drinking tube, and comes with a tube and canteen in its kit. There is a civilian and industrial version of the MV-5 called the V-5. All of the components on the facepiece are fastened using clamps and screws.

The bag for the mask can either be plain green (for civilian and export issue) or in camouflage pattern (for military use). The bags are manufactured by Jack Wolfskin.

Although created for military use, the MV-5 has been used in various non-military applications, such as training high-rise residents in fire escape procedures.
