Panaseal is a Class 3 positive pressure full face mask for use with Breathing Apparatus (BA) used by fire-fighters and other applications where a high level of respiratory protection is required.

Overview[]

Panaseal is moulded in non-dermatitic black Neoprene or in blue Silicone. The polycarbonate visor is listed as conforming to EN 166 Grade B for impact resistance. If damaged the visor can be removed/replaced and is clamped in place and fixed with two screws.

The mask has a five point headharness, available with either a fully adjustable rubber web or a net headharness. The net headharness has two lower adjustable straps with metal buckles with the remaining three straps not adjustable and of a fixed length. Both versions have a cloth neck-strap.

An inner mask has a large central speech diaphragm with metal cover. The exterior exhale cover is of a plastic material and is fixed into position with 3 screws that are removed to give access to the exhale valve for maintenance or replacement.

The mask is approved to EN 136 : 1998 CL 3 and is CE marked in accordance with EEC Directive EC/686/1986.

Variants[]

The Panaseal L/R 40 is a 40mm APR version where the SCBA connection is replaced with a standard 40mm filter port, the exhale cover is coloured blue.

The facepiece is also used with the ELSA escape kits under the name of 'Sprint' where a more robust mask is required in place of the lightweight hood.

Users[]

Apart from civilian use the masks also saw military use with the RAF & Defence Services.
