The S.I.P. 5 is a panoramic facepiece with a hood for acid protection.
Mask overview
The mask is composed of the following:
- A cellulose panoramic visor with a rubber peripheral seal
- An impermeable hood
- Two straps
- An inlet-outlet piece at the front
The hood is made of rubberized cloth. It has an aperture in the front in which the visor is affixed in such a way as to not impede it from sealing. The hood covers the head completely, and it would get tucked under the jacket for extra protection.
The hood sports two straps that get tied around the neck before use to provide a seal.
The inlet-outlet piece sported an exhale valve in a housing in the front, which could be opened and inspected. The inlet valve was placed over the thread, which could be either 30mm or 40mm.
