The Strela filters were a series of box filters based on the MO-2 that were manufactured in the Soviet Union and formed part of early post-war industrial kits and setups. They were first made in the 1950s and probably saw use up until the late 1960s or 1970s.

Overview[]

Unlike later Soviet box filters, the Strela filters use a plastic plug to seal the intake rather than a rubber plug. The intake on Strela filters is also slightly smaller than later Soviet filters.

Some Strela filters are stamped with 'GOST 10182-62'. This was a Soviet industrial technical standard which these filters conform to. This standard possibly came into effect in 1962 (hence the end number '62'), this explains why pre-1962 Strela filters do not have this GOST stamp on them: because the standard did not exist at the time.

Kit[]

When used in conjunction with a Type 'A' bag, ShM-41 or MM-1 and hose, this filter formed an industrial kit. This kit was given the designation 'Д2гу' (D2gu).
