The TC-38 was the civilian variant of the A.N.P. T-31.
Mask overview[]
The mask is made of a rubberized canvas, has either celluloid or triplex glass lenses (some masks' lenses are reinforced with metal reinforcements), features a 7 point elasticated head harness and a 42mm metal valve assembly. Inside the mask - a primitive anti-fog Tissot system made out of leather. This mask does not feature an inhalation valve, rather, this valve is placed inside of the filter that comes with the mask. The mask came in 4 sizes.
- G.T. =Grande Taille (Large)
- T.O. =Taille Ordinaire (Normal)
- P.T. =Petit Taille (Small)
- T.P.T.=Très Petite Taille (Extra small)
The filter[]
The TC-38 is used together with various filters. The most common type of filter - the 35M. A rather long, metal cylindrical filter made of two layers containing the particulate and gas filters. These filters featured a 42mm thread and a simple rubber inhale valve inside.
The kit[]
The TC-38 comes in in kits together with a carrier and filter. Usually, the masks come in cylindrical metal tins, but on some occasions - with canvas bags.

Markings of different manufacturers are found stamped on the side of the mask. The quality of the facepieces vary greatly across different manufacturers - some masks are very stiff and have melted rubber eyepiece holders, while some are very flexible and feel brand new.
