History

The Tipo ad imbuto was an italian gas mask issued to the italian army during the first world war. It is also known as “Maschera polivalente ad occhiali staccati”.

Overview

The Tipo ad imbuto was produced with multiple layers of gauze sewed to each other and impregnated with neutralizing substances. It was produced and issued after the San Michele battle in which italian soldiers had only Ciamician Pesci that was a less effective monovalent gas mask. The tipo ad imbuto was produced in two different variants: one with a rain protection and the other without.
